The Aurora Huskies lost to the York Dukes in sub-districts on the road by a 59-44 margin. Aurora lost against York back in December and unfortunately wound up with the same result on February 24th. Monday.

Despite the loss, Aurora had strong showings from freshman Hailey Hoff, who scored 16 points and seven rebounds, and Kenna Merrihew, who scored nine points. Hoff's 16 points set a new career high.

Freshman Kaitlyn Staehr and Merrihew led the team in points per game this season with a total of 170 points. Merrihew also led the team in rebounds and steals.

Seniors Hannah Janda and Adi Fahrnbruch stepped onto the court for the last time. As they reflected on their years playing basketball with the Huskies, they both mentioned they valued each other's company, and that is something they will never forget.

“This season was the best one to end on. I had so much fun with my teammates, not only while practicing and playing basketball but also while getting ready in the locker room, riding the bus to away games, and more. I laughed more this season than I ever have because all of our teammates got along so well. It was so special to create a bond with each and every one of them! Some of my favorite memories are the quiet time and prayers that the five starters shared before every game. It was so special to me because it allowed me to take a deep breath and remember that my teammates and God have my back no matter the outcome,”  Fahrnbruch said. Adi was disappointed that her season is over, but is so excited for the future of Lady Husky basketball.

“I thought the York game, although the outcome was not what we wanted, was a good representation of what our team had this season. I could always count on my team to give their best on the court to the end of the game or practice. There are so many talented and dedicated people on our team who have shown a lot about our team as a whole,” Fahrnbruch said.

While losing is never fun, the Huskies completed a few of their goals. They never gave up, even when they were trailing on the scoreboard, and they continued to push through to the end of every game.
