The Aurora girls basketball team traveled to Milford J. 16, coming up short 22-60.
After giving up 25 points in the first quarter the Huskies weren't able to overcome the deficit. They were able to limit the damage left in the game only allowing 2 points from Milford in the fourth quarter.
“I think it helped our girls see what it would take to compete against a top caliber team and what we need to do in season and out of season to get to play with those top teams,” Coach Kelly Krueger said.
Prior to the game, the Huskies were on a four-game winning streak, their longest one of the season with wins over Ashland-Greenwood, St. Paul, Schuyler, and Hastings.
“Overall, we have a young team that is willing to work hard and get better and that is what we have seen throughout the course of the season,” Coach Krueger said.
The basketball team has a packed schedule for the remainder of their season. Kearney Catholic will face them on their home court on Jan. the 23rd while they travel to Seward the following day.
“If we continue to work hard and improve, I can see our team competing hard against our final few opponents. I think every coach's and team's goal is to make it to the state tournament. We will have to take it one game at a time and see what we can accomplish!” Coach Krueger said.
