With the season wrapping up soon, Aurora had an exciting victory on Oct. 18 against Milford with a 42 point victory. Coach Madison Farris says he’s been on his toes this season, and that Aurora is excited by the victory and teamwork the football players have shown.
Junior running back Ian Jensen started the game off with a 60 yard kickoff return, setting up Aurora’s first offensive drive. After ending the first quarter with a score of 14-7, Aurora was already in the lead. Senior quarterback Booker Scheierman threw the ball 17 yards to senior and wide receiver Parker Smith for the final touchdown in the second quarter. Scheierman led the team throughout the game, running a total of 50 passing yards and one touchdown. By the end of the second quarter, Aurora was still in the lead with a halftime score of 35-7.
On the third down in the third quarter, Scheierman passed the ball to Ian Jensen for a 34 yard touchdown. Up by 35 points and counting to start off the fourth quarter, backup quarterback Isaiah Urmacher passed the ball 18 yards to senior tight end Rylan Bartek for another touchdown.
“I saw a lot of improvement with everyone getting along well and keeping each other up, especially through the tough times,” sophomore Owen Jacobsen said.
Ending the game with 56 points, Aurora was excited.
“We had a lot of success in this game, and it was our most complete game of the entire season. Defense, offense and special teams all played a role in our victory, and I’m very proud of these boys.” Coach Farris said.
Coach Farris said there were more injuries than expected this year, but the team persevered and went above and beyond to work together.
“The season isn’t all about winning, but when we do, it’s not just for us. It’s for our school, our community, and our alumni,” Coach Farris said.
