Starting the season with the first home game, on Aug. 26, the Lady Huskies softball team defended their home turf with a big win against Fillmore Central 11-0. Senior Zoe Johnson started the game on the mound and finished the game with six strikeouts. Johnson faced 14 batters during the game and only allowed two hits.
“I think we executed and performed well on both sides of the ball. We had some great hits on offense. While pitching, I knew my team was there to back me up the entire time. I think for myself, I am just really proud of how I was able to pitch the ball and hit my spots,” Johnson said.
Leading the team with the most RBIs in the game, senior Adi Fahrbruch brought in six runs with her two hits. Her first hit was a triple that brought in three runs, followed up by a home run that also brought in three runs.
On defense sophomore Londyn Teahon had seven putouts of her seven chances. Teahon ended the game with a fielding percentage of 1.000.
“I think one thing my team and I could improve on is just talk, on and off the field. Our bats were really good this game and so was our fielding, however, we just didn’t have that discussion in the dugout that would’ve made this game way better,” Teahon said.
The Lady Huskies finished the game with no errors and not allowing any runs scored.
