The Aurora show choirs are in preparation for their competition season and their upcoming winter concert, which is combined with the band and choir. The combined concert will take place on Dec. 12. at 7:00 in the middle school gym.
Both show choirs will perform a choral piece together as part of the concert, as well as participating in the choir portion as well.
“The thing about music, as with any sport or other thing, it is a fluid thing that each time you do it you try to get better and better, whether it be rehearsals or competitions or shows,” choral director Jason Frew said.
“I think we are very close. One thing that’s great about these groups is that we have been working hard and the details are coming more and more, but there is eagerness and excitement and when the time comes things will be in a place where the kids can be proud of their product,” he said.
Rhapsody, the mixed show choir group, practices every Monday, Wednesday, and every other Friday morning, with an additional practice after school. Impact, the all girls show choir, practices at the end of the school day each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
“I feel like we have slowly been getting better every practice and that we should be prepared for our competition season soon,” sophomore Lylah Mitchell said, “Performing at competitions is one of the best parts of show choir and I am so excited to be able to perform at so many competitions this year. We work so hard to prepare for these competitions and our hard work pays off,” she said.
Competition season for the two groups begins on Jan. 20, 2024 at the Hastings Tiger Clash Show Choir Competition.
