The girls finished first, and the boys finished third. On Thursday Sept. 14, the Aurora Cross Country team had a Central City invite. This meet included the athletes running 3.1 miles for the race.
This race included multiple best performances including, sophomore Kendal Wineteer freshman and Kailey Dick who both brought home hardware after this meet. Kendal said she was excited about her best performance.
“One of my main goals for this season is to do well at state and I need to trust God and know that he is in control of what will happen in the future.”
For the boys, Senior Lucas Gautier and Junior Charlie Evans also brought home medals. These four athletes were the top performers with the best performances.
“The feeling of getting a PR is always amazing, especially when it’s by 40 seconds and when you break that milestone of 17:00,” Charlie Evans said.
Aurora had a total of six medalists, including Kendal finishing fourth with a time of 20:33, right behind her was Ella Eggleston finishing fifth. Lexi Ericksen finished twelfth, and Kailey Dick finished fourteenth, seven minutes behind Ericksen.
The boys medalists were Lucas Guateir finishing sixth, with Charlie Evans finishing behind at eighth.
The Huskies have two more meets in Kearney, and Syracuse. After, they have their conference competition at Concordia.
